The ultimate Guide of AI Capabilities in HR, HCM and Talent Management

In 2024, I hope you put your new friends to work as much as possible. These are the assistants, co-pilots, and all other intelligent companions!


They are called Joule, Co-pilot, Now Assist or Companion. Like ChatGPT from Open AI, they chat with you, guide you and write what you know to ask them.


Here is a summary of the announcements made by the major HCM publishers to start the year about Artificial Intelligence in Human Resources (ML, DL, Generative). Let’s go for digital and cognitive disruption. Let see what is in store.

ADP

At the end of January 2024, ADP announces ADP Assist.


With 41 million paid people in more than 140 countries, ADP has one, if not the largest, HR database. 4 capacities are announced.


ADP Assist:

Easy Payroll: ADP Assist offers a second opinion on payroll data. The conversational assistant validates payroll information. The AI Assistant checks for payroll anomalies and uses Generative AI to identify and help resolve missing tax records and answer questions based on ADP's extensive, up-to-date data set of compliance information. This saves human resources efforts and helps customers ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.


Smart Analytics: ADP Assist uses Generative AI (GEN AI) to dramatically simplify reporting by understanding context and generating reports that are contextually relevant and in an easy-to-understand format. HR professionals and HR leaders can easily access internal, national and global workforce data. The benchmark is based on ADP's HCM dataset to analyze compensation, turnover rate, candidate profile relevance and talent market information.


Human Insights: ADP Assist, in the form of a conversational assistant, provides support to resolve common employee issues related to HR, payroll, time and benefits. This reduces employee frustration and eliminates some low-value tasks for managers and HR practitioners. ADP Assist can send personalized, proactive notifications to employees on their mobile device or desktop to help them quickly resolve HR issues and keep them productive.


Search by Intent: The RUN Powered by ADP payroll and HR solution includes a ubiquitous search bar that understands the intent behind search terms and uses GenAI to leverage ADP's deep knowledge base to deliver content easy to use and effective.



 

Dayforce

Co-Pilot Dayforce:

Ceridian Dayforce announced Dayforce Co-Pilot, a new suite of Dayforce features powered by artificial intelligence (AI). 

 

Dayforce Co-Pilot transforms work by automating repetitive tasks and serving as a hyper-personalized guide for employees. 

 

The new AI-powered features include writing job descriptions and requisitions, automated goal creation, generation of HR Helpdesk knowledgebase articles, creation of charts and reports, and generation of annual performance reviews.


Co-Pilot AI Capabilities in HR :

  • Writing job descriptions and requisitions, automated goal creation, generation of HR Helpdesk knowledge base articles, creation of charts and reports, and generation of annual performance reviews.

  • Deliver hyper-personalized experiences for employees: Improves the overall user experience, making interactions with HR systems more intuitive. For HR, this means more efficient records management and service delivery.

  • Automate candidate journeys with a new candidate experience portal, simplifying the application process for job seekers and streamlining recruiting tasks for HR.

  • Effectively orchestrate strategic HR initiatives through data-driven workforce segmentation and automated communication.


 

Microsoft 365 Human Resources

Copilot 365:

Microsoft introduced Copilot capabilities for its Dynamics 365 ERP portfolio, including Dynamics 365 Human Resources. Copilot uses generative AI to automate tedious tasks and provide insights faster for HR professionals. 


Microsoft also annouced a collaboration with SAP to integrate SAP SuccessFactors solutions with Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot in Viva Learning, as well as Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service to access powerful language models that analyze and generate natural language.


Microsoft Copilot Capabilities in HR:

  • Generating content: job descriptions, contracts, reports, dashboards and summaries using natural language,

  • Chatbot assistance and recommendations.

 

 

Oracle HCM-Cloud

OracleMe (My Oracle):

OracleMe enhances the employee experience by integrating learning and communication modules. For HR, it means more efficient service delivery and an improved employee experience.


Oracle HCM introduced generative AI-powered capabilities within Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM). 


OracleMe AI Capabilities in HR:

  • Provide a personalized and engaging employee experience that adapts to the user’s needs, preferences, and context. OracleMe Employee Experience offers smart recommendations, nudges, and feedback based on data from OracleMe and other sources, such as surveys, feedback, and behavioral analytics.

  • Help HR leaders make data-driven decisions about their talent strategy, workforce planning, and talent acquisition. OracleMe Talent Intelligence provides insights and recommendations based on data from OracleMe and other sources, such as market data, social media, and employee feedback. It helps HR leaders understand the current and future state of their talent, identify gaps and opportunities, and benchmark against industry best practices.

  • Support learning and development, skill acquisition, and career growth. OracleMe Learning helps employees discover and acquire new skills, access personalized learning content, and find the best-fit opportunities within the organization. It also helps managers and mentors coach and guide their employees and teams3The new capabilities are embedded in existing HR processes to drive faster business value, improve productivity, enhance the candidate and employee experience, and streamline HR processes.

 

 

SAP Successfactors

AI news capabilities are embedded across the entire SAP SuccessFactors Human Experience Management (HXM) Suite to help organizations address the skills gaps and reveals the potential withing their workforces, from talent recruitment and internal mobility to learning and performance management. Skills-Based Organization (SBO) is the new trend in HR, powered by AI new capabilities.


1- Joule HR Assistant:

Joule is SAP’s generative AI copilot, which is available in SAP SuccessFactors. It provides employees with natural language AI assistance, simplifying access to information and streamlining HR processes. For HR, it enhances employee engagement and productivity through AI-driven insights and task automation.


Joule provides a conversational user interface that enables you to access information and perform tasks on the SAP SuccessFactors platform, without having to navigate through multiple pages. It simplifies how you interact with the system and helps you get tasks done faster.


SAP Joule AI Capabilities in HR:

  1. Three conversational patterns: navigation, transaction, and information retrieval. You can use Joule to find the functionality you are looking for, complete your tasks efficiently, and retrieve information from existing documents.

  2. Integrate with Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and OpenAI API large language models, which can help you with various tasks, such as answering questions, summarizing content, and content generation.

  3. Help discover employees' skills, interests, and aspirations, and connect you with relevant learning and career opportunities. Joule can also help you develop your skills and competencies through continuous learning.

  4. Interact with other SAP cloud products, such as SAP Customer Experience, SAP Customer Relationship Management, SAP Ariba, and SAP Business Technology platform (BTP).


2- Talent Intelligence Hub:

Talent Intelligence Hub (TIB) offers a centralized skills framework, aiding in talent evaluation and addressing skill gaps. It benefits HR by integrating employee profile data across various talent management processes.


Some of the main capabilities of SAP SF Talent intelligence Hub:

  • Talent Insights: It provides insights and recommendations based on data from SAP SuccessFactors and other sources, such as market data, social media, and employee feedback. It helps HR leaders understand the current and future state of their talent, identify gaps and opportunities, and benchmark against industry best practices1

  • Talent Matching: It uses ML and generative AI to match candidates and employees to the best-fit roles and projects based on their skills, preferences, and potential. It helps HR leaders optimize their talent pipeline, reduce hiring costs and time, and improve employee retention and engagement.

  • Talent Generation: It uses generative AI to create realistic and diverse synthetic candidates and employees based on predefined criteria and scenarios. It helps HR leaders test and validate their talent strategy, workforce planning, and talent acquisition processes, and simulate the impact of different actions and interventions.


3- SAP also announced partnerships with AI providers

SAP SuccessFactors announced new collaborations that will harness the power of generative AI to enhance talent experiences. One such integration is between SAP SuccessFactors and Microsoft’s Azure Open AI service, which will introduce capabilities for recruiters to create hyper-customized job descriptions based on SuccessFactors and external data.


Finally, SAP SuccessFactors announced the general availability of the generative AI hub in SAP AI Core and SAP AI Launchpad, which gives customers instant access to a broad range of large language models from different providers, such as GPT-4 by OpenAI.


 

ServiceNow


1- Now Platform :

ServiceNow announced new generative AI capabilities for the Now Platform, which enable faster and more intelligent workflow automation.


The new solutions include ServiceNow Generative AI Controller and Now Assist for Search, which can integrate with Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service and OpenAI API large language models. These solutions can help customers with various tasks, such as answering questions, summarizing content, and content generation.


Now Platform AI Capabilities in HR:
  • Content generation: GenAI can automatically generate various content types, such as emails, reports, and presentations, saving time and improving the quality of outputs.

  • Summarization: GenAI can summarize large documents or conversations, providing quick and concise insights.

  • Question answering: GenAI can answer questions based on a vast knowledge base of information, providing real-time support and guidance.

  • Intelligent chatbots that can answer questions, resolve common issues, and trigger workflows instantly.

  • Knowledge management that provides a single source of knowledge across the organization.

  • Process optimization that uses process mining to refine processes for optimal operational efficiency.

  • Automatic content generation that can create relevant, personalized and actionable search results, as well as working notes that can be used, for example, by HR service center agents to answer employee questions.


2- Employee Growth and Development :

ServiceNow also announced new AI-powered talent transformation solutions, which aim to address the rapidly evolving skills needed for digital business. The new solutions include ServiceNow Employee Growth and Development (EGD), which is based on the acquisition of Hitch, a skills intelligence platform. 


EGD helps employees discover their skills, interests, and aspirations, and connects them with relevant learning and career opportunities.


EGD Hitch Main AI Capabilities in HR:

  • Skills intelligence: EGD utilizes AI-powered skills intelligence to analyze employee data, identify skills gaps, and recommend relevant training opportunities, mentors, and mobility opportunities. This data-driven approach ensures that employees are matched with the right development resources to enhance their skills and advance their careers.

  • Personalized learning experiences: EGD provides personalized learning experiences that are tailored to each employee's individual needs and goals. This is achieved by dynamically recommending courses, certifications, and other learning resources that align with the skills gaps identified by the AI-powered skills intelligence.

  • Skills-based workforce planning: EGD enables organizations to develop skills-based workforce plans that align with their strategic objectives. By understanding the current and future skills needs of the organization, EGD helps leaders make informed decisions about talent acquisition, development, and deployment.

UKG


1- UKG Great Place To Work Hub :

UKG Great Place To Work Hub provides enhanced mobile experiences for employees, while HR gains better tools for employee engagement and retention.


Generative AI models will leverage the extensive Great Place To Work knowledge base of benchmarks and proven best practices, to guide HR leaders and people managers with proactive, purposefully curated insights and recommendations. 


In a presentation at Aspire 2023, UKG recalled that more than 2,500 Machine Learning algorithms are at work in its solutions.


2- Gen AI for UKG Pro et UKG Ready HCM suite:

UKG also announced the introduction of generative AI-powered conversational experiences for the UKG Pro and UKG Ready HCM suites.


UKG AI Capabilities in HR :

  • New conversational experiences: It empowers people with the ability to skip point-and-click software navigation and use open-ended questions and text and voice-based requests, which are then answered based on user intent.

  • Employee Engagement: It uses ML and generative AI to measure and improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and well-being. It provides insights and recommendations based on data from surveys, feedback, and behavioral analytics.

  • Workforce Optimization: It uses ML and generative AI to optimize workforce planning, scheduling, and performance. It helps managers align their teams with business goals, balance workload and demand, and enhance productivity and efficiency.

  • Talent Development: It uses ML and generative AI to support talent development, learning, and career growth. It helps employees discover and acquire new skills, access personalized learning content, and find the best-fit opportunities within the organization.


 

Workday HCM

Workday announced generative AI across Finance and HCM platform.


1- IA for Workday HCM:

AI for HCM will automate routine tasks like job description generation, enhancing consistency for employees. HR benefits from improved efficiency and decision-making through AI-powered insights.


Workday AI models are fueled by more than 625 billion transactions processed by the system every year, resulting in the world's largest, cleanest set of financial and HR data.


2- Manager Insights Hub et Flex Teams:

Manager Insights Hub and Flex Teams: Offers personalized recommendations for employee growth and team building. HR can leverage AI to better understand and utilize the skills within their workforce.


  1. Workday Manager Insights Hub is a solution that uses ML and generative AI to help managers improve team performance, engagement, and well-being. 

  2. Workday Flex Teams is a feature that allows managers to create and manage temporary or project-based teams within Workday. It enables managers to assign tasks, track progress, and evaluate outcomes across different teams and workstreams.


Workday AI Capabilities in HR:

  • Generating content: job descriptions in minutes, analyzing and correcting contracts for faster revenue recognition,

  • Create and maintain a comprehensive and dynamic skills ontology that reflects the changing skills landscape. Workday Skills Cloud helps organizations understand the skills of their workforce, identify skill gaps and opportunities, and recommend learning and career paths.

  • Connect employees to internal opportunities that match their skills, interests, and aspirations. Workday Talent Marketplace helps organizations foster a culture of mobility, development, and engagement, and optimize their talent allocation and utilization.

  • Provide a personalized and intuitive employee experience that anticipates user needs, offers relevant guidance and support, and delivers actionable insights and recommendations. Workday People Experience helps organizations enhance employee productivity, satisfaction (sentiment analysis), and well-being.

  • Provide managers with insights and recommendations on how to improve their team’s performance, engagement, and well-being. It analyzes data from Workday and other sources, such as surveys, feedback, and collaboration tools, and helps managers identify issues, opportunities, and best practices1
